Periodic Audits and
Category 1, 3 & 5 Test Programs
Provide periodic audits and
monitor category 1, 3 & 5 test requirements to ensure the safety and integrity
of your vertical transportation system.
1. Periodic Audits; Provide an on-site pictorial audits of the existing
elevator equipment and equipment components to determine operating performance
based on engineering practices common to the vertical transportation industry.
The audit includes the use of an elevator performance meter to measure speed and
forces felt during elevator movement. A stopwatch is used for door operational
times. After completion of each audit, a comprehensive report will be prepared.
The report will include a current listing of the operating performance for each
elevator and a narrative, which summarizes the audit and tests conducted,
identifies conditions found to exist, provide recommendations as to what actions
should be implemented to correct deficiencies and/or conditions identified.
Recommended frequency every six (6) months.
2. Monitor Category 1, 3 & 5 Safety Test Requirements; Provide on-site
supervision to observe the performance of the required group of tests for each
category and document the results from each test conducted.
Category 1 – Recommended frequency every twelve (12) months.
Electric and Hydraulic Elevators.
Category 3 – Recommended frequency every three (3) years. Hydraulic
Category 5 – Recommended frequency every five (5) years. Electric
and Hydraulic Elevators.
All audits and safety test requirements are
conducted and/or monitored in accordance with the latest editions of the
American Society of Mechanical Engineers, ASME A17.1, ASME A17.2, and ASME A17.3
and AHJ (Authority Having Jurisdiction).
